The Greek text reads 'twelve myriads of men of war, and eight thousand horsemen' (one hundred and twenty thousand infantry and eight thousand cavalry). The total Seleucid army at the Daphne parade numbered only about fifty thousand troops (Polybius 30.25). See note on 3:39.
