20 And as for your donkeys being lost now these three days, don't set your mind on them; for they have been found. And for whom is all that is desirable in Israel? Is it not for you, and for all your father's house?[fn]

now these three days, literally: 'this day three days'. In Hebrew this means that they were lost the day before yesterday: Today is the third day they were lost. Yesterday was the second day they were lost. The day before yesterday was the actual day they were lost. See also 1 Samuel 20:12, 20:19, and 30:13.
