CT reads, "when he began ... being the son, as was supposed, of Joseph"; UPDV omits "when he began" with the Peshitta, Old Syriac S, and the Ebionite Gospel fragment. UPDV conjecturally omits "as was supposed" as a later qualification associated with Luke 1-2, although every complete Greek and versional witness checked retains it; see The Gospel of Luke.
