Most manuscripts read "moved with compassion" (σπλαγχνισθείς); CT is almost certain (Level B) that this is original. The UPDV follows a minority reading, ὀργισθείς, directly attested in Codex Bezae and early Latin witnesses. The Old Syriac manuscript Sinai F, which Taylor provisionally dates to the late fifth century, preserves compassion plus anger in a conflated reading, and Ephrem's fourth-century commentary is indirect reception evidence for the anger element; S and the Peshitta read compassion, while C is not extant here. The rendering "deeply moved" reflects the broader range of the underlying Aramaic. See Variant Exceptions for more details.
