Chapter 2
2:9 — shepherd, traditionally read 'break'. 'Shepherd' follows the LXX and the Hebrew in the MT, but with different vowel pointing.
2:12 — Embrace purity partly follows LXX interpretation (i.e. 'accept correction' or 'embrace discipline'). MT could be literally, 'Kiss cleanness/purity'. Some interpret this as 'Kiss the son' possibly by textual correction or accepting an Aramaic definition in this Hebrew text.
Chapter 4
4:2 — See footnote at Psalm 49:2.
Chapter 22
22:16 — Literally this reads, 'They surrounded me like a lion my hands and my feet.' This is the reading of the MT which follows HOTTP with a good degree of certainty (B on a scale of A-D). Also see Gesenius who concurs in his lexicon on page 388. Note the similar context of dogs and lions in verses 13, 20 and 21. However, LXX, DSS and other manuscripts may read 'They pierced my hands and my feet'.
Chapter 27
27:8 — seek is an imperative command here, as if the psalmist is commanding his face to seek Yahweh's face.
Chapter 35
35:16 — godless fools is literally 'mockers of the feast/cake'. See also DBL entry #5056 and K&D in this verse.
Chapter 42
42:2 — see the face of God is the earliest attested text and HOTTP recommendation here. The traditional reading here would be: 'appear before God'. See also Exo 23:15 note.
42:5 — my salvation is literally, 'the salvation of my face'. Also at 42:11, and 43:5. For verse division, see HOTTP.
Chapter 46
46:9 — i.e. round shields. This word could also be rendered 'chariots'.
Chapter 49
49:2 — sons of man and sons of a man, these are distinct phrases representing different Hebrew words. 'son of man' and 'sons of man' are used numerous times. 'sons of a man' is used infrequently and can also be found at Gen 42:11, 13, Psa 4:2, Psa 62:9 (both phrases), Lam 3:33. 'son of a man' can be found at Lev 24:10 (of a man and of a woman), 1Sam 9:1, 17:12, 2Sam 1:13, 17:25, 23:20, 1Ch 11:22. For gender information, see Appendix. 'sons of a woman' (wife) see 1Ch 4:19. 'son of a woman' see Lev 24:10 (of a man and of a woman) and 1Ki 7:14.
Chapter 62
62:9 — See footnote at Psalm 49:2.
Chapter 82
82:1 — gods refers to 'judges' of the people. See it also used this way in verse 6, as well as Exodus 21:6, 22:8-9, 22:28, and John 10:34-35. Also see the footnote at Exodus 22:9.
82:6 — gods here means judges, see footnotes at Psalm 82:1 and Exodus 22:9. See also John 10:34-35.
Chapter 84
84:7 — will be seen is the earliest attested text and HOTTP recommendation here. See also Exo 23:15 note and HOTTP at Psa 42:3(2). See KJV for a traditional reading.
Chapter 104
104:35 — Hallelujah is Hebrew for 'Praise+ Yah'. Also in the New Testament, for example see Revelation 19:1.
Chapter 106
106:20 — his glory. Literally, 'their glory'. See variant exceptions in the Appendix.
Chapter 119
119:1 — Psalm 119 is acrostic. It contains twenty-two sections which correspond to the twenty-two letters of the Hebrew alphabet. Each verse in a section starts with the same Hebrew letter. The Hebrew letter and English name for it are shown in brackets at the beginning of each section.

140:9 — speak lies about me is literally: 'those who change me'.
