Footnotes
At this place in the text the CT also includes the following: 'rejoiced in the Holy Spirit, and'. However, compare the reading of Matthew 14:20 (new numbering). See Variant Exceptions regarding Luke 11:13 for more information.
A denarius was a Roman coin worth about one day's wages.
CT reads, 'Martha, Martha, you are anxious and upset about many things, but one thing is needful.' The UPDV omits both clauses, supported by Old Syriac S and part of the Old Latin tradition (it-a, b, e, ff², i, l, r¹); Codex Bezae retains only 'you are troubled.' The verse reads 'Jesus answered and said' with Old Syriac S, D, and much of the Greek and Old Latin tradition (CT: 'the Lord'). See Variant Exceptions.
