Abdi

Abdi is identified in the UPDV as the father of Kish, a Levite of the line of Merari who participated in the purification of the temple under King Hezekiah.

Father of Kish the Levite

When Hezekiah began his religious reforms, the Levites rose to consecrate themselves and the temple. Among those named from the Merarite branch of the tribe: "Kish the son of Abdi, and Azariah the son of Jehallelel" (2 Chronicles 29:12). Abdi is identified solely as the father of Kish and receives no further description; his place in the record is secured by his son's role among the Levites who answered Hezekiah's call.
