Abi-Albon

Abi-albon is one of David's named warriors. The two parallel rosters use slightly different forms of his name; the same man stands behind both.

In the warrior list

The Samuel roster reads, "Abialbon the Arbathite, Azmaveth the Barhumite," (2Sa 23:31). The Chronicles parallel substitutes the alternate form: "Hurai of the brooks of Gaash, Abiel the Arbathite," (1Ch 11:32). The shared epithet the Arbathite and the matching place in the list identify the two as one person under two name forms.
