Abiah

Abiah (also rendered Abijah in the UPDV) is a woman named in the genealogies of Judah as the wife of Hezron and mother of Ashhur.

Wife of Hezron

After Hezron's death, the genealogical record identifies his wife by name: "Hezron's wife was Abijah. And she bore him Ashhur the father of Tekoa" (1 Chr 2:24). She is remembered solely through this line of descent, which anchors Ashhur as founder of the settlement of Tekoa within the tribe of Judah.
