Abishur

Abishur is a name preserved only in the Jerahmeelite genealogy of Judah. Two short notices in 1 Chronicles place him among the sons of Shammai and record the next generation through his wife Abihail.

Place in the Jerahmeelite Line

The genealogy of the sons of Jerahmeel reaches Abishur through his grandfather Onam: "And the sons of Onam were Shammai, and Jada. And the sons of Shammai: Nadab, and Abishur" (1Ch 2:28). Abishur is the second-named son of Shammai, set beside his brother Nadab.

Wife and Sons

The next verse names his household: "And the name of the wife of Abishur was Abihail; and she bore him Ahban, and Molid" (1Ch 2:29). Abihail is the only wife of Abishur named in the text, and Ahban and Molid are the two sons she bears him.
