Abiud
Abiud is a post-exilic ancestor of Jesus, named in the genealogy of Matthew as a son of Zerubbabel.
Ancestor of Jesus
The opening genealogy of Matthew traces the line from Zerubbabel, who led the return from Babylon, through the post-exilic generations: "and Zerubbabel begot Abiud; and Abiud begot Eliakim; and Eliakim begot Azor" (Matt 1:13). Abiud stands at the link between the known figure of Zerubbabel and the otherwise unattested generations that carry the line toward Joseph and the birth of Jesus.
