Accho

Accho is a coastal town on the Phoenician seaboard listed among the cities the tribe of Asher failed to dispossess. UPDV renders the name as Acco.

Asher's Unfinished Conquest

The town is named in the catalogue of Asher's incomplete conquest: "Asher did not drive out the inhabitants of Acco, nor the inhabitants of Sidon, nor of Ahlab, nor of Achzib, nor of Helbah, nor of Aphik, nor of Rehob" (Jdg 1:31). Acco stands at the head of the seven-city list, paired with Sidon and the other northern coastal sites that remain in Canaanite hands when the tribal allotment closes.
