Achmetha

Achmetha was a city in the province of Media where a royal archive was kept during the Persian period.

When Darius ordered a search for the decree of Cyrus authorizing the rebuilding of the Jerusalem temple, the relevant scroll was found at Achmetha, in the palace located in the province of Media (Ezra 6:2).
