Acrostic Poetry
Acrostic poetry is one of several poetic forms found in scripture, in which successive lines or stanzas open with consecutive letters of the Hebrew alphabet — a structural device that appears in passages of Psalms, Proverbs, and Lamentations. It sits alongside the didactic, elegiac, epic, and lyric forms gathered under the larger heading of biblical poetry.
