People · Updated 2026-05-07

Ahinadab son of Iddo was one of Solomon's twelve district officers, each responsible for supplying provisions for the royal household. His district was Mahanaim: "Ahinadab the son of Iddo, in Mahanaim" (1Ki 4:14).

Solomon's District Officer

The administrative list in 1Ki 4 divides the kingdom into twelve districts, each under an officer charged with provisioning the king's household for one month of the year. Ahinadab son of Iddo governed the district centered at Mahanaim, a location in Transjordan long associated with the earlier monarchies of Saul's house and David's flight from Absalom.
