Allon-bachuth
Allon-bachuth (spelled "Allon-bacuth" in the UPDV) is the name given to an oak tree below Beth-el, marking the burial site of Deborah, the nurse of Rebekah.
The Oak of Weeping
The name and its origin are recorded in Gen 35:8: "Deborah, Rebekah's nurse, died, and she was buried below Beth-el under the oak: and the name of it was called Allon-bacuth." The name means "oak of weeping," commemorating the grief at Deborah's death. The site lay near Beth-el, which Jacob was journeying toward when she died.
