Ananiah

The name Ananiah belongs both to a man named in Nehemiah's wall-builders list and to a town of Benjamin in the post-exilic resettlement.

A Man in the Wall-Building List

Ananiah is named as the grandfather of one of the workers on the wall: "After them repaired Benjamin and Hasshub across from their house. After them repaired Azariah the son of Maaseiah the son of Ananiah beside his own house" (Ne 3:23).

A Town of Benjamin

The same name attaches to a settlement listed among the towns of Benjamin in the post-exilic resettlement: "at Anathoth, Nob, Ananiah," (Ne 11:32).
