Anath
Anath is the father of Shamgar, one of the judges of Israel. He is identified solely by this paternal relationship in the account of Shamgar's exploits: "And after him was Shamgar the son of Anath, who struck of the Philistines six hundred men with an ox-goad: and he also saved Israel" (Judges 3:31). The text records nothing further about Anath himself; his significance in the narrative is entirely as the father of the judge who delivered Israel from Philistine pressure.
