Aphses
Aphses (also rendered Happizzez) is the name assigned to the eighteenth priestly division established during David's reorganization of the Levitical service. The sole reference appears in the roster of the twenty-four priestly courses: "the seventeenth to Hezir, the eighteenth to Happizzez" (1Chr 24:15). The list is part of the systematic allocation of priestly families to rotating temple duty.
