Apollyon
Apollyon is the name given in Greek to the angel who rules the abyss as king over the locust host of the fifth trumpet vision in Revelation. The single reference provides both his Hebrew and Greek designations: "They have over them as king the angel of the abyss: his name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in the Greek [tongue] he has the name Apollyon" (Rev 9:11). The two names — Hebrew Abaddon ("destruction") and Greek Apollyon ("destroyer") — are semantic equivalents identifying the same figure.
