The genealogy of Judah in 1 Chronicles records Ardon among the children born to Caleb son of Hezron. 1Ch 2:18 states: "And Caleb the son of Hezron begot [children] of Azubah [his] wife, and of Jerioth; and these were her sons: Jesher, and Shobab, and Ardon." Ardon is the third son named in this line, placing him within the Calebite branch of the tribe of Judah.
