Arodi

Arodi was a son of Gad who went down to Egypt with Jacob's household. He is listed in the register of Jacob's descendants: "And the sons of Gad: Zephon, and Haggi, Shuni, and Ezbon, Eri, and Arodi, and Areli" (Gen 46:16).

Among the Sons of Gad

The list in Gen 46 enumerates the seventy persons of Jacob's house who came into Egypt. Arodi appears as the sixth son of Gad, between Eri and Areli. In the later census of Num 26:17, the same lineage is recorded under a slightly variant form — "Arod" — with his descendants enumerated as the Arodites, showing the continuity of this line from the migration into Egypt through the wilderness generation.
