Aspatha

People · Updated 2026-05-07

Aspatha was one of the ten sons of Haman the Agagite, the enemy of the Jews in the Persian court. His name appears in the account of the Jews' defense against those who sought their destruction during the reign of Ahasuerus.

Son of Haman

In the capital city of Shushan, the Jews killed five hundred men, including the sons of Haman. Aspatha is listed by name among the ten: "And Parshandatha, and Dalphon, and Aspatha" (Es 9:7). The full list of brothers — Aspatha among them — concludes with the notation that these were "the ten sons of Haman the son of Hammedatha, the Jews' enemy" (Es 9:10), slain in the city but with no hand laid on the spoil.
