Asshurim

Asshurim were descendants of Dedan, himself a grandson of Abraham through Keturah. Their name appears in the genealogical record of Abraham's sons by his second wife, tracing the peoples that spread from that branch of the patriarch's line.

Descendants of Dedan

The genealogy in Gen 25:3 records that Jokshan fathered Sheba and Dedan, and that Dedan's sons were three peoples: "And Jokshan begot Sheba, and Dedan. And the sons of Dedan were Asshurim, and Letushim, and Leummim." Asshurim thus stand alongside Letushim and Leummim as tribal or clan groups descended from Abraham through the Keturah line, distinct from the line of Isaac and the covenant promises.
