Athach

Athach was a city in Judah to which David sent a portion of the spoil taken from the Amalekites after the raid on Ziklag. It appears alongside other Judahite towns in the list of beneficiaries of David's generosity following the victory.

A City of Judah

After recovering the spoil taken by the Amalekites, David distributed it among the elders of the cities of Judah who had supported him during his time in the wilderness. Athach is named in 1Sa 30:30 among those recipients: "and to those who were in Hormah, and to those who were in Bor-ashan, and to those who were in Athach." The city's inclusion in this list places it within the network of Judahite settlements that maintained loyalty to David.
