Athaiah
Athaiah was a man of Judah who settled in Jerusalem after the return from Babylonian exile. His genealogy traces through a distinguished line of Judahite ancestors, and he is identified in connection with the post-exilic repopulation of the capital.
Resident of Jerusalem after the Exile
Among those who settled in Jerusalem following the return from Babylon, Ne 11:4 identifies Athaiah by a full genealogical chain: "Athaiah the son of Uzziah, the son of Zechariah, the son of Amariah, the son of Shephatiah, the son of Mahalalel, of the sons of Perez." His ancestry back to Perez, the son of Judah, anchors him firmly within the tribe of Judah and among those counted as dwelling in Jerusalem during the restoration period.
