Azur
Azur (rendered Azzur in the UPDV) is named as the father of Jaazaniah, one of the princes of the people whom Ezekiel saw in a vision at the east gate of the temple.
Father of a Prince at the East Gate
In a vision, Ezekiel is lifted by the Spirit and brought to the east gate of the temple, where he sees twenty-five men gathered. Two of them are identified by name and parentage: "and I saw in the midst of them Jaazaniah the son of Azzur, and Pelatiah the son of Benaiah, princes of the people" (Eze 11:1). Azzur's son Jaazaniah is singled out alongside Pelatiah as a leading figure in this group, which the vision addresses in a context of judgment against those giving wicked counsel in the city. Azzur himself belongs to the record only as the man who gave Jaazaniah his standing among Jerusalem's princes.
