Bakbuk
Bakbuk is the ancestor of one of the Nethinim families that returned from exile under Zerubbabel. The name appears only in the two parallel registers of those who came up out of Babylon, set among other Nethinim founding houses.
Ancestor of a Nethinim Family
In Ezra's roster of the returnees, Bakbuk is listed alongside Hakupha and Harhur as heads of Nethinim houses: "the sons of Bakbuk, the sons of Hakupha, the sons of Harhur" (Ezr 2:51). Nehemiah's parallel register repeats the same grouping in the same order: "the sons of Bakbuk, the sons of Hakupha, the sons of Harhur" (Ne 7:53). Beyond his place in these two lists, no narrative material attaches to him.
