Barter

Barter is the direct exchange of goods for other goods rather than for money, the dominant mode of trade across the ancient Near Eastern peoples described in scripture. The biblical record traces such exchange across caravan routes, sea trade, and city fairs, with cargoes ranging from grain and livestock to spices, metals, fabrics, and human captives.
