Bathing
Bathing in scripture is the ritual washing of the body for ceremonial cleansing — required of priests entering the sanctuary, lepers after healing, women after childbirth or menstruation, those defiled by contact with the dead, and the people generally before approaching holy assemblies. The practice carries both a sanitary function and a symbolic one, prefiguring the cleansing from sin worked by water and the Spirit.
