Battery

Battery is the unlawful striking of another person, treated under Mosaic law as a personal injury whose penalty is calibrated to the harm done — compensation for lost time and healing in lesser cases, life-for-life or stripe-for-stripe where the injury is graver. The same category covers the physical blows inflicted on Jesus during his trial and execution.
