Bechorath

Bechorath is named once, as a forefather in the genealogy that traces the ancestry of Saul son of Kish.

Ancestor of Saul

The opening verse of the Saul-narrative locates his lineage within Benjamin: "Now there was a man of Benjamin, whose name was Kish, the son of Abiel, the son of Zeror, the son of Becorath, the son of Aphiah, the son of a man [of] Benjamin, a mighty man of valor" (1Sa 9:1). Becorath stands two generations above Kish in this Benjamite line, fixing the family's pedigree before Saul's rise to the kingship.
