Beno

Beno appears only in the Levitical genealogy of 1 Chronicles 24, where the priestly and Levitical courses are organized for service. He is a Merarite — a descendant of Levi through Merari — and his name surfaces in two consecutive verses that record the same line.

Beno in the Merarite Line

The roster of David's Levitical divisions traces the Merarite branch: "The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi; the sons of Jaaziah: Beno" (1Ch 24:26). The next verse repeats the descent and adds Beno's brothers: "The sons of Merari: of Jaaziah, Beno, and Shoham, and Zaccur, and Ibri" (1Ch 24:27). Beno is named as a son of Jaaziah and as one of four brothers in the Merarite course; nothing further is said of him.
