In the closing summary of Simeon's settlements before David's reign, the place stands beside Beth-marcaboth and Hazar-susim, spelled Beth-biri in UPDV: "and at Beth-marcaboth, and Hazar-susim, and at Beth-biri, and at Shaaraim. These were their cities to the reign of David" (1 Chr 4:31).
