Beth-Shittah
Beth-shittah appears once in the Hebrew Bible, named as one of the way-points along the Midianite rout in Gideon's night-attack and identified as a place near the Jordan River.
A Place Near the Jordan River
The site marks the line of flight after the trumpet-blast and Yahweh's confusion of the Midianite camp: "And they blew the three hundred trumpets, and Yahweh set every man's sword against his fellow soldier, and against all the host; and the host fled as far as Beth-shittah toward Zererah, as far as the border of Abel-meholah, by Tabbath" (Jdg 7:22). It stands as one fixed coordinate of the rout.
