Bilhan

People · Updated 2026-05-06

Two men bear the name Bilhan — a Horite chief in the genealogy of Esau's land, and a Benjamite descended from Jediael.

A Horite Chief

In the Edomite genealogies of Genesis, Bilhan is named as one of the sons of Ezer in the line of the Horites: "These are the sons of Ezer: Bilhan and Zaavan and Akan" (Gen 36:27).

The Chronicler repeats the same line: "The sons of Ezer: Bilhan, and Zaavan, Akan. The sons of Dishan: Uz, and Aran" (1Ch 1:42).

A Benjamite

A second Bilhan appears in the genealogies of Benjamin as the son of Jediael and the father of seven sons: "And the sons of Jediael: Bilhan. And the sons of Bilhan: Jeush, and Benjamin, and Ehud, and Chenaanah, and Zethan, and Tarshish, and Ahishahar" (1Ch 7:10).
