Bithron

Bithron is a district lying near the Jordan River, named once as a stretch traversed by Abner and his men on their retreat to Mahanaim.

Abner's March

After the engagement at Gibeon, "Abner and his men went all that night through the Arabah; and they passed over the Jordan, and went through all Bithron, and came to Mahanaim" (2Sa 2:29). The notice locates Bithron between the Jordan crossing and Mahanaim, and the route describes a night march along the eastern side of the river.
