Boanerges

Boanerges is the surname Jesus gives to the sons of Zebedee when he appoints the Twelve.

Sons of Thunder

In the call list of the apostles, the record names "James the [son] of Zebedee, and John the brother of James; and he gave them the name Boanerges, which is, Sons of thunder" (Mr 3:17). The name is given as a paired surname for the two brothers and is glossed inline by the evangelist, fixing its sense as "Sons of thunder."
