Boar, Wild
The wild boar appears once in scripture, in a lament over Israel pictured as a vine that has been broken open and overrun by beasts.
The Boar from the Forest
In the Asaph psalm, the figure of the ravaged vine concludes with the image of the boar:
"The boar out of the forest ravages it, / And the wild beasts of the field feed on it" (Ps 80:13).
The two lines stand in parallel: a single intruder out of the forest, and the wider company of "wild beasts of the field." The boar serves as the named figure for the destruction working on Israel from outside.
