Buz
Buz is the name of two distinct men in the UPDV: a son of Nahor named in Abraham's family circle, and an ancestor of a Gadite household named in the Chronicler's genealogies.
Son of Nahor
When the news of Nahor's children reaches Abraham, Buz appears second among them: "Uz his firstborn, and Buz his brother, and Kemuel the father of Aram" (Gen 22:21). The notice ties Buz directly to the Nahorite line, paired with his elder brother Uz.
Father of Jahdo
In the genealogy of the Gadite Abihail, a second Buz stands at the head of the chain: "These were the sons of Abihail, the son of Huri, the son of Jaroah, the son of Gilead, the son of Michael, the son of Jeshishai, the son of Jahdo, the son of Buz" (1Ch 5:14). This Buz is Jahdo's father, several generations back from Abihail, and the line is traced from him forward through Jeshishai, Michael, Gilead, and the rest down to Abihail's sons.
