Chameleon
The chameleon appears once in scripture, in the catalog of creeping creatures declared unclean for Israel.
Among the Unclean Creeping Things
The Levitical food laws gather the chameleon with a small group of similar reptiles: "and the gecko, and the land-crocodile, and the lizard, and the sand-lizard, and the chameleon" (Le 11:30). Listed at the end of the sequence, it falls under the same prohibition as the other creatures of its kind — forbidden as food and rendering anything it touches in death ceremonially unclean.
