Chenani
Chenani is named once, among the Levites who led the assembly's cry of confession in the days of Ezra and Nehemiah.
A Levite
On the day the people gathered to confess their sins after the reading of the law, eight Levites took their stand on the stairs and called out together to Yahweh: "Then stood up on the stairs of the Levites, Jeshua, and Bani, Kadmiel, Shebaniah, Bunni, Sherebiah, Bani, [and] Chenani, and cried with a loud voice to Yahweh their God" (Nehemiah 9:4). Chenani's name is the last in the list, joined to the others by the bracketed conjunction. Nothing further is recorded of him.
