Chephar-Haammonai
Chephar-haammonai is the longer English form of a Benjamite village name that UPDV renders Chephar-ammoni. It appears once, embedded in the city-by-city allotment given to the tribe of Benjamin in Joshua 18.
A town in Benjamin's inheritance
The catalog of Benjamin's twelve cities runs through familiar names — Jericho, Beth-hoglah, Beth-el — and then lists the smaller towns that completed the allotment: "and Chephar-ammoni, and Ophni, and Geba; twelve cities with their villages" (Joshua 18:24). The closing tally, "twelve cities with their villages," counts Chephar-ammoni among the inhabited settlements distributed by lot to Benjamin when the seven still-undivided tribes received their portions (Joshua 18:21-24).
