Chub

Chub — spelled Cub in the UPDV — appears once in scripture, named among the peoples allied with Egypt who fall under Ezekiel's oracle of judgment.

An Ally of Egypt

In Ezekiel's prophecy against Egypt and her supporters, the list of allies that share her fate includes Cub: "Ethiopia, and Put, and Lud, and all the mingled people, and Cub, and the sons of the land that is in league, will fall with them by the sword" (Ezek 30:5). The verse places Cub among African and African-adjacent peoples — Ethiopia (Cush), Put, Lud — bound together with Egypt by treaty and bound together with her in the coming sword.
