Dilean
Dilean is named once, as a town in the territorial allotment given to Judah. The single mention places it in the lowland (Shephelah) cluster, in a sub-list of sixteen cities counted with their villages.
A City of Judah's Lowland
The verse falls inside the second lowland sub-list of Judah's inheritance, headed at Joshua 15:33 ("In the lowland"). The cluster runs from "Zenan, and Hadashah, and Migdal-gad" through Dilean's verse and on to Lachish and the rest: "and Dilean, and Mizpeh, and Joktheel" (Josh 15:38). The whole sub-list closes at Joshua 15:41 with "sixteen cities with their villages." Dilean is otherwise unmentioned; the only datum about it is its position in this Judahite lowland inventory.
