Drink
Drink in scripture covers the intoxicating beverages of Israelite and ancient Near Eastern life — chiefly wine — and the moral terrain surrounding their use, abuse, and refusal. The biblical material falls into four clusters: total abstinence (Nazarites, Rechabites, Daniel, John the Baptist), the figure of the drunkard, drunkenness as instance and as judgment, and wine itself in its agricultural, medicinal, sacramental, and table uses.
