Ebiasaph

Ebiasaph is a Levite of the line of Korah. He surfaces only in the genealogies and tabernacle service-rosters of Chronicles, where his name marks the line that supplies the Korahite gatekeepers and doorkeepers.

Son of Korah

The Levitical genealogy in 1 Chronicles places Ebiasaph in the Korahite line: "Elkanah his son, and Ebiasaph his son, and Assir his son" (1Ch 6:23).

Ancestor of the Korahite gatekeepers

The post-exilic gatekeeper list traces Shallum back to him: "And Shallum the son of Kore, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah, and his brothers, of his father's house, the Korahites, were over the work of the service, keepers of the thresholds of the tent: and their fathers had been over the camp of Yahweh, keepers of the entry" (1Ch 9:19).

When Chronicles assigns the courses of the doorkeepers, the same line is named: "For the courses of the doorkeepers: of the Korahites, Meshelemiah the son of Kore, of the sons of Ebiasaph" (1Ch 26:1).
