Eglaim

Eglaim is named once, as one of the outer points to which the cry of mourning carries when judgment falls on Moab.

A Border of Moab's Lament

The oracle in Isa 15 traces grief outward from the heart of Moab to its edges. Eglaim and Beer-elim mark the limits the wailing reaches: "For the cry has gone round about the borders of Moab; its wailing to Eglaim, and its wailing to Beer-elim" (Isa 15:8). The town serves as a geographic terminus for the lament, a place name that measures the breadth of Moab's collapse rather than figuring in any narrative of its own.
