Eleph appears once, named in the closing list of towns belonging to Benjamin's tribal inheritance.

A Town in Benjamin's Inheritance

The boundary description for Benjamin ends by listing the southern cluster of towns that fall within the tribal allotment, with Eleph among them: "and Zelah, Eleph, and Jebusi, that is Jerusalem, Gibeath, [and] Kiriath-jearim; fourteen cities with their villages. This is the inheritance of the sons of Benjamin according to their families" (Jos 18:28). The town is preserved here only as one entry on a roster — placed alongside Zelah, the soon-to-be-named Jerusalem, Gibeath, and Kiriath-jearim — so that the totaled count of fourteen cities completes the territory assigned to Benjamin.
