Elihoenai
Two men carry this name in the OT records. UPDV preserves the longer form "Eliehoenai" in the verse text of both occurrences — one a Levitical gatekeeper at the temple, the other a clan head returning from exile under Ezra.
A Levitical Gatekeeper
The first is the seventh son of Meshelemiah, listed in the registers of those assigned to keep the temple gates: "Elam the fifth, Jehohanan the sixth, Eliehoenai the seventh" (1Ch 26:3). His place in the order is fixed by birth-rank, and the gatekeeping office was distributed among his brothers as well.
Son of Zerahiah, Returning with Ezra
The second is a head of his clan in Ezra's company on the return from Babylon: "Of the sons of Pahath-moab, Eliehoenai the son of Zerahiah; and with him two hundred males" (Ezr 8:4). He brings two hundred men of Pahath-moab back to the land — the second-largest contingent named in the Pahath-moab branch of Ezra's caravan.
